Buffalo Concerts

Posted in: Uncategorized

Some excellent artists will be performing in Buffalo in the coming weeks.  David Gray, Buddy Guy, Mark Knopfler, The Subdudes and others have shows scheduled.  David Gray’s most recent album is DRAW THE LINE (A fine addition to his canon).  I would also highly recommend his WHITE LADDER album.  Mark Knopfler’s guitar style and storytelling are truly impressive, and his body of work(Solo and Dire Straits) is compelling.

The dire conditions in Haiti are difficult to fathom.  The pressing issue does not involve petty politics or ideology.  Here is a link I hope you find useful.

Welcome to 2010

Posted in: Uncategorized

As I recall, “2010″ was the sequel to “2001 A Space Odyssey”..  At the end of the film(Spoiler Alert) One of Jupiter’s Moon’s explodes thus giving the Earth Two  Suns…!    Can’t wait…

The Grammy Awards come around at the end of this month.  There are often a hit and miss affair.  A quick scan of the list shows me that the Dave Matthews Band record “Big Whisky & the Groo Grux” is the finest and most deserving for Album of the Year.  A fine collection and fitting to tribute to the late Leroi Moore….

John Lennon’s Legacy

Posted in: Uncategorized

29 years ago today, John Lennon was murdered in cold blood by a despicable coward.  Lennon was not just a great songwriter and musician.  He used his fame to advance the idea that humans are capable of sharing this planet in peace.  Like anyone, he was not perfect.  His music endures and inspires because it  was “real” and challenged us.  Give it a Chance.

December Nights

Posted in: Uncategorized

December is not my favourite month.  Daylight is scarce, Howling Winds, and X-mas hype.  Christmas music seems to have a polarizing effect on some people.  What is too much, too soon.?  Some X-mas songs do have some magic while others are vapid exercises in futility.  John Lennon, Bruce Cockburn, The Band, Greg Lake and many others have recorded some seasonal tracks that have stood the test of time.  The Smithereens put out a fun X-mas album in 2007.  Some X-mas songs should be put out of their misery with a stake of Holly through the heart….

Springsteen & E Street Band

Posted in: Uncategorized

This Sunday night, Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band will be in Buffalo.  They are expected to perform the GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK N.J. Album in its entirety.  Songs like “The Angel” and “Lost in the Flood” have rarely been played in concert.  Springsteen fans will get to hear the debut album that paved the way for this amazing group of musicians who have poured their collective body and soul into their work.  Should be quite a magical  ”Spirit in the Night”….

“..It is a Ponderous Chain..”

Posted in: Uncategorized

In recent years, it seems as if Thanksgiving has been engulfed and devoured by the “X-mas Season”.  Even the “transformed” Mr. Scrooge would not have signed on for that(Chain or not)

Check out my Acoustic Sunrise Page.  There is a Song Search Archive that you can use to get playlists for past shows.  Just change the date and time.  You can e-mail me if you have any questions.
